I was at work two nights later, and the crowd was pretty decent. “Let’s go in the champagne room,” a voice said in my ear, and chills ran through my body.
I would know that voice for the rest of my days. The familiar cologne invaded my nostrils, and I became moist from the familiarity of his scent. I spun around shocked as hell to be face to face with Savage. I studied his face, but I couldn’t read his expression. I wanted nothing more than to be alone with him, but I wasn’t clear on his intentions. He sensed my hesitation and guided me gently by my elbow to the champagne room in the back of the club. We walked past the bouncer guarding the door, and my palms began to sweat as we entered the room.
I wasn’t even able to open my mouth and get a word out before Savage had his hand wrapped around my throat. Rage danced in his cold, dark eyes.
“Don’t you ever again in your slutty ass life come near my boutique or my cars. I’ve tried to be nice, but I will beat yo ass like you a nigga the next time you bother my shit. I don’t want you, and I will never be with you, and fucking up my shit isn’t going to change that,” he stressed through clenched teeth.
Tears filled my eyes, but Savage paid them no mind. “I hate you. There is no love left in my heart for you. You know better than anyone how I despised my father, and right now, I wish you were dead instead of him.”
Just as I became lightheaded, Savage let me go, and I fell to the floor. Sharp pain radiated through my neck and chest as I gulped in some air. I had been seconds away from blacking out when he let me go.
Savage looked down at me with contempt. “It sure didn’t take you long to come running back to this place. You just couldn’t wait. Why do you even want me back? It’s obvious this is who you really are, and you were just pretending with me. Don’t come near me again.” With that, Savage turned and walked away.
I sat on the floor sobbing. I didn’t know why I just kept doing stupid shit. When I took the merchandise from his boutique, I envisioned him calling me and us arguing then having passionate make-up sex. I know at times I was delusional, but I had never loved a man the way I loved Savage. Losing him was literally making me crazy.
